International Policy of the University
Since its creation, the University of La Rochelle has confirmed its international dimension by setting up and developing its curricula in the context of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and by concentrating its resources on two main priorities : Asia-Pacific and the Americas.
This international dimension is at the very heart of the image of this unique environment: La Rochelle harbour, traditionally a hub of exchange with the world, inspires the University to intensive international activity, and this activity is supported by the local government.
Today, thanks to this presence on the international scene, 140 European and international agreements have been signed. The university participates in various European programs related to training and research, and in the institutional network CREPUQ (University Presidents Conference in Quebec); it is also a member of the AUF (National Agency of Francophonie) and of the Campus France agency.
Raising the international profile of the University is one of the institution’s major priorities because it intends to:
- internationalise courses through the creation of degrees with European and international partners, develop joint doctoral degrees and organise certain classes in English,
- guarantee a high quality welcome and a successful stay for students and foreign researchers by further developing the teaching of French as a Foreign Language (FLE),
- intensifying its volunteer-based international work experience policy in order to allow a larger number of individuals to work or study abroad,
- develop research activities in collaboration with top level teams by creating a service responsible for project building.
