{"id":17504,"date":"2019-09-05T17:13:29","date_gmt":"2019-09-05T15:13:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.univ-larochelle.fr\/?page_id=17504"},"modified":"2019-09-16T11:20:06","modified_gmt":"2019-09-16T09:20:06","slug":"phd-international-exchanges","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.univ-larochelle.fr\/en\/research-and-innovation\/phd\/phd-international-exchanges\/","title":{"rendered":"PhD international exchanges"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>Joint doctorate<\/h2>\n<p>A joint doctorate is a procedure governed by a decree (May 25, 2016), implemented on the initiative and under the responsibility of the President of the University, which allows a student <strong>to prepare a thesis<\/strong> under the direction of <strong>two teachers<\/strong> authorized to conduct research belonging to <strong>two universities<\/strong>, one French and one international.<\/p>\n<p>A co-supervised thesis gives rise to a <strong>single defence<\/strong> and allows the doctoral student to obtain <strong>the degree of doctor from both universities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The student is enrolled in both universities but <strong>he \/ she pays the tuition fees in only one of them<\/strong>. The student agrees to follow alternately courses and seminars in each of the two universities as defined by both parties in the agreement.<\/p>\n<h2>Thesis defence<\/h2>\n<p>At the end of the degree, <strong>a single defence<\/strong>, the conditions of which must be specified in the agreement, is organized in one or other university, with a mixed jury of at least four members.<\/p>\n<p>After a successful defence the student will receive <strong>two diplomas corresponding<\/strong>, in each of the countries, to the end of the doctoral studies: a doctorate degree for the French university, the equivalent for the international university.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_message message_box_color=&#8221;warning&#8221;]Note : A joint doctorate must be agreed during the first or second year of the PhD[\/vc_message][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The procedure must be initiated by the research directors who propose the joint doctorate.
