A SMART CAMPUS DRIVING POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE IN THE AREA<\/h2>\n

Attentive to its environment and keen to adapt to a world undergoing a profound transition, La Rochelle Universit\u00e9 has become a true testing ground for research in the service of the region and the challenges of tomorrow. Global, <\/span>ambitious<\/span> and innovative, the <\/span><\/span>Smart Campus<\/span><\/span> approach aims to make the university an <\/span><\/span>exemplary campus that is committed, connected, sustainable and green<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This involves a strong commitment to building renovation and the introduction of smart systems to regulate energy consumption and flows<\/strong>. Renovation operations, technical equipment, insulation work and digital heritage management services are all included in the demands for the contractualisation process with the State and institutional partners (CPER, Recovery Plan, etc.), and should enable the institution to limit its own ecological impact on the area.<\/p>\n

La Rochelle Universit\u00e9 is also involved in a programme to change people<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s behaviour towards <\/span><\/span>sustainable transport<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/strong> We are helping to set up the AGREMOB project with a consortium of local actors. The programme involves setting up awareness-raising initiatives, <\/span>workshops<\/span> and incentives to help the residents of La Rochelle make the transition to sustainable mobility. La Rochelle Universit\u00e9 was awarded the <\/strong><\/span><\/span>\u201cSustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility\u201d label<\/span><\/span><\/strong> in 2022<\/strong>. This label recognises the institution<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s commitment and strategy in terms of sustainable development and social <\/span>responsibility, and<\/span> commits it to a continual improvement process.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/4″][vc_single_image image=”44866″ img_size=”medium” css=””][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”3\/4″][vc_column_text css=””]The creation of a <\/span><\/span>centre for the dissemination of scientific culture<\/span><\/span><\/strong>,<\/strong> the <\/span>\u201c<\/span>Science & Society <\/span>Comm<\/span>\u2019<\/span>On<\/span> Lab<\/span>\u201d<\/span>,<\/span> planned as part of the <\/span><\/span>ExcelLR<\/span> project<\/span><\/span><\/a>, aims to support the development and monitoring of the <\/span>u<\/span>niversity<\/span>\u2019<\/span>s projects, whether they be research programmes, educational <\/span>explorations<\/span> or student initiatives, <\/span>in order to<\/span> anchor them in a societal strategy.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CAPITALISING ON DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY TO BUILD THE CAMPUS OF TOMORROW<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

With <\/span>Smart CODE<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>university aims to be accessible from anywhere, at any time<\/span><\/b>, thanks to the development of connected classrooms offering a distance learning experience equivalent to that of a traditional classroom.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text css=””]In this respect, the project is representative of the way in which the institution is seizing the digital opportunity to turn it into a tool for opening up the university to all and building a smart campus. This ambition is also reflected in the virtual campus, designed to offer 1\u202f000 usable virtual offices and a reinvented library, providing shared workspaces and digital portfolios for students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Providing access to a virtual work environment for the entire university community means <\/span>improving the university\u2019s digital infrastructure<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

RAISING AWARENESS OF SOCIETAL ISSUES AND ENLIGHTENING DECISION-MAKING THROUGH RESEARCH EXPERTISE<\/p>\n

As the national and international academic landscape evolves, the university is not only faced with the globalisation of higher education, but also with its responsibilities in terms of the development of society. Through its missions of education, research and professional integration of its students, the university contributes to the training of responsible citizens of the world who can play an active role in present and future changes.<\/strong> By developing and disseminating new knowledge and providing innovative solutions to a rapidly changing world, the university remains the laboratory for tomorrow\u2019s society.<\/p>\n

Drawing on the intellectual potential of its student and scientific community, La Rochelle Universit\u00e9 is helping to produce decision-making tools to help solve public policy problems<\/strong>. This ambition is all the stronger in that it is part of the joint actions undertaken by all the local actors as part of the La Rochelle Zero Carbon Territory project<\/a>.
