Selected thesis topics will be funded for a period of <strong>36 months<\/strong>. Vietnam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_toggle][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility criteria of the subject<\/h2>\n<p>Subject eligibility is based on the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The co-director (outside La Rochelle Universit\u00e9) is <strong>a person attached to a university capable of awarding a doctoral degree<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>letter of commitment<\/strong> is completed and signed by the rector, vice-president Research or president of the partner institution, as well as by the thesis co-director.<br \/>\n<em>With this letter (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-larochelle.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/LETTER_OF_COMMITMENT.docx\">see model<\/a>), the partner institution undertakes to pay La Rochelle Universit\u00e9 the sum of <strong>\u20ac5,000<\/strong> (mobility grant), agrees with the <strong>duration of the secondment<\/strong>, the <strong>duration of the cotutelle<\/strong>, and the <strong>total duration of the thesis<\/strong> (36 months). <strong>Without this letter of commitment, the subject will not be accepted.<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<li>The project timetable is designed to ensure that:\n<ul>\n<li>The thesis does not exceed <strong>36 months<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The doctoral student spends <strong>a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 9 months at the academic partner<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The doctoral student spends <strong>3 months on secondment with a non-academic partner<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The subject meets the <strong>program&#8217;s objectives<\/strong>: quality of the subject, response to the challenges of the <a href=\"mailto:https:\/\/www.univ-larochelle.fr\/en\/university\/our-vision\/specialised-research-on-smart-urban-coastal-sustainability\/\">Smart Urban Coastal Sustainability<\/a> (SmUCS).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Doctoral supervision<\/strong> is validated by the doctoral schools of both institutions.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>research project<\/strong> is approved by the heads of both research laboratories to which the two supervisors are affiliated.<\/li>\n<li>The subject complies with <strong>European Union rules<\/strong> on research ethics.<\/li>\n<li>The subject identifies a <strong>non-academic partner<\/strong> for the 3-month secondment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Secondment<\/h2>\n<p>Each thesis must include a <strong>3-month secondment at a non-academic partner<\/strong>, during which doctoral students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Experience SmUCS challenges from a practical perspective in a working environment related to their field of activity.<\/li>\n<li>Present their research activity to the host organization, sharing potential solutions and having the opportunity to reflect with stakeholders on how this can meet their future needs (impact and dissemination activities).<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to any ongoing reflection within the structure in relation to their field of research.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Non-academic partners can be chosen from the list of partners in the EU-DOCS for SmUCS project (cf. 13 partners below). This list may be extended depending on the relevance of the secondment to the doctoral student&#8217;s thesis topic.
