Biotechnology, Agri-food, Health sector

The sector aims to provide biotechnological solutions to enhance the value of natural biological resources such as those from our coastal environment. Thus, it fits perfectly into a blue growth strategy for our territory and its socio-economic actors, while proposing methods that respect the environment and ensure the preservation of biodiversity.

Its objective is to offer new products (molecules, ingredients) and services (bioprocesses) for the well-being and health of populations. It is therefore aimed at industries in the agri-food and agro-resource sectors, as well as pharmaceuticals, cosmetology and the environment (solutions for aquaculture or biomaterials).

The Biotechnology, Agri-food and Health programme covers 700 students from the B.U.T. to the doctorate and brings together some thirty researchers and ten doctoral students in four research laboratories.

In essence, it is involved in innovation and the creation of new products, and has notably incubated the start-up Valbiotis, an R&D company involved in the fight against metabolic diseases, prevention and scientific innovation.
